| Degrader: Any defect that is located ONLY within the quality section of the log, and is substantial enough to subtract from the overall grade or value of the log. Slab Section: The Section of a log that is removed in lumber production and is located directly underneath the bark. Center Section: The section that is located in the center of the log and is comprised of 40% of the log's diameter. Quality Section: The section located between the slab and center section, which yields the most profit of all the log sections. | |||||||
